Youville Recovery Residence

Youville has been helping women in Calgary turn their lives around since 1977.

Youville Recovery Residence for Women Youville's mission is to operate residential recovery facilities for women who experience the co-occurring issues of addiction, mental health distress, and a history of abuse.

In a unique home-like setting, Youville promotes recovery by providing its clients with holistic counseling and programming services which strive to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational, and social needs of each client. For women who are mothers and who might otherwise avoid recovery for fear of being separated from their children, Youville additionally offers accommodations and programs which keep families intact and which allow mothers and their children to remain together during recovery.

Originally founded by the Grey Nuns, Sisters of Charity, Youville was named for Canada's first and only saint, Marguerite d'Youville, herself a woman who overcame tremendous hardships to live a life dedicated to helping others.

Today Youville is proud to continue this legacy while operating as a non-denominational society and registered charity, governed by an all-volunteer board of directors.

YWCA Mary Dover House

YWCA - Calgary The YWCA Mary Dover House is an 86-bed transitional home that offers safe, affordable and supportive housing to women and children in times of crisis or transition. In addition to housing, we also offer on-site counselling, referrals and advocacy in an environment that promotes positive change.

Our crisis and transitional housing program is called "supportive housing" because we provide more than a roof over the heads of women and children. In fact, our residents are linked to the YWCA of Calgary's network of services. These include individual counselling, parenting sessions, child care, financial planning classes and the opportunity to develop a variety of life skills, as well as access to wellness services.

The process works. In the end, our clients live free of violence. They reduce their reliance on social assistance, increase their employability, become better parents and are able to contribute to their community and broader society.
